要約、抄録、注釈等 "Poems 1938-1984" consists of four parts and brings together several decades of hard poetic work that testifies to the tireless vigor of a woman devoted to her muse. Having struggled her entire life to reconcile the demands of motherhood and those of her vocation as a writer, Elizabeth Smart evokes this struggle in many of her poems, thus tracing the portrait of a time when women struggled to carve out a place for themselves in writers' circles, struggling with the barriers imposed on them and the daily dilemmas. Throughout the collection, she makes the trivial and the universal coexist and indulges in moments of pure exaltation, marveling for example at the fury of living plants, or of extreme desolation, especially in the face of the ravages of war - an event that marked her intimately and deeply. Without submitting to rigid forms, the verses of this collection also celebrate the masters who inspired them, addressing themselves to them, with ins olence sometimes, in order to allow their author to exist in poetry.,"«Poèmes 1938-1984» se compose de quatre parties et rassemble plusieurs décennies d'un travail poétique acharné qui témoigne de l'infatigable vigueur d'une femme dévouée à sa muse. Ayant lutté sa vie entière pour réconcilier les exigences de la maternité et celles de sa vocation d'écrivaine, Elizabeth Smart évoque ce combat dans nombreux de ses poèmes, traçant ainsi le portrait d'une époque où les femmes ont du mal à se tailler une place dans les cercles d'écrivains, aux prises avec les barrières qu'on leur impose et les dilemmes quotidiens. Tout au long du recueil, elle fait cohabiter le trivial et l'universel et se livre à des moments de pure exaltation, s'émerveillant par exemple devant la furie de vivre des plantes, ou de désolation extrême, notamment en face des ravages de la guerre -- événement qui l'a intimement et profondément marquée. Sans se soumettre à des formes rigides, les vers de ce recueil célèbrent également les maîtres qui les ont inspirés, s'adressant à eux, avec insolence parfois, afin de permettre à leur auteure d'exister en poésie."--Page 4 de la couverture.
